The services provided by the Large Research Infrastructures (LRIs) are upgraded to better adapt and meet industrial needs. Associate partner LRIs will establish SOPs for instrument calibration, sample handling/preparation and data acquisition of non-destructive residual strain mapping, using the reference samples developed in WP2. These procedures will be openly available (open innovation) to other facilities. For easier comparison of data acquired at different facilities and to facilitate reproducibility and traceability, harmonised raw data formats will be defined that include all necessary metadata relating to the experiment.
The main objectives of the present WP are:
• Collect and identify a homogenous set of specifications and other boundary conditions to allow the consolidation of testing methodologies at the LRIs.
• Define a set of standard operating procedures for the calibration and for the data collection of the instruments at the LRIs. The instruments involved are using complementary synchrotron x-rays and neutrons and can provide bulk analysis and near-surface analysis.
• Complete an evaluation of further techniques available for mapping of the residual strain at the LRIs, which have been identified as promising by the industrial user community in order to anticipate future needs.
• Harmonise all the techniques available at LRIs in order to guarantee that the same rationale have been established for the certification methodologies and to guarantee the full interoperability of the results obtained in the further steps of the data analysis and in the context of complex workflows.
